Home Groups
Home Groups are where we really grow in our relationship with God and in relationship with others. The bible is clear; only connected people grow. People connected to Jesus (John 15v4) and people connected to others (Hebrews 10v25). Following Jesus is never a solo effort. We grow best alongside others who encourage, pray for and challenge us in our life with God.
Our home groups meet most weeks in various localities across the city. This is based on a model of church life we see in the Bible. First we see Jesus gathering a small group of followers who became his friends. They gathered together with Jesus at the centre.
We see these same early followers continued this same model when the first church exploded into life. We read in Acts 2v42-47 that they met in large congregations and also in each otheres homes where they broke bread, ate together, worshipped and prayed. Later we also see how they cared for each other in very practical ways.
We see Home Groups as continuing this pattern of church life. It is the main place to be involved and particpate and make friends at mercyvineyard.
The usual ingredients of a Home Group are worship, prayer and talking about how following Jesus can be lived out in our daily lives. They are informal, relaxed and often involve eating!
You can choose which group you go to and try out where you are most at home. If you want to know any more or want advice about Home Groups please don't hesitate to contact us.
If you go on the Connect Course new groups will be formed out of that course with other people new to the church. This might be an easier way into Home Group for you.
Contact the church office to find out when the next Connect Course is running.
